my HP2133 (Mini-me) has fallen to the dark side
Yes folks,
I must report the terrible news that Mini-me is now a slave to M$. The final nail was not being able to video post via seesmic--you can video comment on my site with it (below the normal comment input stuff. )
How does Mini-me behave with XP? Pretty good actually! The broadcom wireless utility makes wifi surfing easy. HP has all the required drivers and with a little hack, it's sporting a snazzy vista-esque theme. Some please explain to me why Microsoft just doesn't get it. People want to be able to make things their own. It would proably cause greater brand loyalty. As it is, the hoops one has to jump through is annoying and not endearing to the product--one of a litany of issues I have with this OS. Linux doesn't suffer this problem. Granted it has many more of it's own, but at least most of the functionality is there.
It could handle Nikon's NEF (raw format) without addt'l software! I will have to digg up the Nikon software now.
Will mini-me ever be saved? Yes. Emphatically YES! I still have plans to create a bootable flash drive running linux. I also have to sort out the activation thing with M$--yet another sorry pain of this system. If it doesn't get worked, out the "good side" may be return faster than expected.
